Beach, forest and a stunning bride and groom!
Before the summer we were honoured to photograph some beautiful weddings. Now that the holidays are over and almost all weddings have been edited and delivered, it is high time to write some blogs about these beautiful couples. We’ll start with the wedding of Rob and Romy, that took place in Maarsbergen last May.
Last year we met Rob and Romy for the first time while enjoying a cup of coffee at the Posbank in the Veluwe. They’d watched us work at one of their friends wedding and had then booked us for their wedding.
Normally we meet for the first time at our home office, but since Rob and Romy lived on the other side of the country, we chose to combine the meeting with a Loveshoot in the rolling hills of the Veluwe. It was a beautiful misty morning and besides a deer, there were not many spectators, giving us a great choice of locations. After the loveshoot, we were already looking forward to photographing their wedding. This couple was so relaxed and romantic in front of the camera. And if you know Rob, you’d know that there will always be crazy photos in between – it was certainly not boring!
Their wedding day began relaxing as everyone got ready in a small Bed and Breakfast. Rob and Romy wanted to do a “first look” at a special location. This means that instead of greeting each other at the door for the first time (a Dutch tradition), they’d chosen to see each other for the first time on the beach of Henschotermeer, a large lake in the area. As photographers we love doing different things like this. This allows us to have much more space and not be in the way (or hiding in little corridors near the door) while the couple see each other for the first time. This way the bride and groom also have a precious moment together. So if you are getting married, a first look in a special location with lots of light (and more space than a doorway) is definitely recommended.
After this, we stayed and did the photoshoot at the Henshotermeer. We could have easily spent many hours more there – there are so many beautiful places with bridges, forest, sand and water. Their vows were later exchanged at the Weistaar in Maarsbergen.
In the evening there was a wonderful wedding service where Rob (who had hair to his shoulders) surprised everyone by having his hair cut right before the church service! No one except his bride knew what he was planning and was met with lots of shocked and surprised faces from his friends and family as he suddenly appeared in the church.
Finally, a wonderful party brought the day to an end in the Weistaarmet, accompanied by a DJ and a live saxophone player! In short, an awesome day with a spontaneous, fun and very in-love couple.
