Familie photos in the forest | Dordrecht Biesbosch
We often receive requests from families who want to book a photoshoot as a birthday gift or anniversary gift for parents or grandparents. It’s always really special to see how a relationship that started a long time ago has grown over 30, 40, or 50 years of marriage. It’s also wonderful to see how the family has grown over time, with children, grandchildren and even great grandchildren being a part of the photoshoot. The hardest part for everyone is often simply choosing a date when the whole family is available, but once that’s done, it normally ends up being a fun family day together, combined with the photoshoot.
That was the case with this family last autumn, who gathered to celebrate the anniversary of their grandparents, including a photoshoot.
Many times the families we photograph include young children, so it was a nice change to photograph a family with just teenagers and young adults. Plus it saves me from having to pull a whole lot of silly faces and doing other ‘grown up’ and ‘professional’ things like throwing stuffed animals in the air. It tends not to get quite the same response from teenagers :). Thankfully they were quick to crack all the jokes themselves, helping everyone to relax and just be themselves during the photoshoot.
And what a beautiful location, the ‘Dordtse Biesbosch’, which is a large national park and reserve close to Dordrecht, South Holland. It’s a beautiful mix of forest, lakes, open fields, beautiful walking tracks and so much more. If you’re in the area, it’s worth spending a nice afternoon there!
